What Is Radiofrequency (RF) Procedure?

Radiofrequency (RF) Procedure or RF delivers targeted heat to the deeper layers of the skin and has been used in dermatology for decades to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating new collagen production.

For dry eyes, Eye Studio uses a custom designed hand piece on both the upper and lower eyelids that delivers targeted heat to the meibomian glands. This melts away any blockages and greatly enhances their function and in turn relieves dry eye symptoms.

What to Expect During Treatment

Prior to the treatment, gel will be applied to the treatment area. During the treatment, the hand piece will deliver heat to the upper and lower eye lids separately. This will be massaged back and forth along the eyelid area. The sensation is similar to that of a hot stone massage. The treatment zone will be treated for about 10 minutes. We recommend 4 sessions spaced 2-4 weeks apart for best results.

Post-Procedure Care

RF is a safe and non-invasive procedure that can be done in-office. You can resume your daily activities immediately after the treatment. Some common side effects may include redness and mild swelling around the treatment area, which usually subside within a few hours. It is recommended to moisturize and avoid excessive heat in the treated area post-treatment. RF is effective and patients may experience relief within 1-2 days after the first session.
