WHAT IS MGD?

Are you tired of dealing with dry, irritated, blurry, or watery eyes? These are typical symptoms of dry eye, with 86% of sufferers showing signs of Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD). When the meibomian glands that produce the essential oily layer of the tear film get blocked, MGD can occur, leading to discomfort and vision issues.

DIAGNOSING AND TREATING MGD

If you experience eye dryness and irritation from using drops regularly, consult your eye doctor to see if treatment with the Systane® iLux2® device is suitable for you. This breakthrough device targets the root cause of MGD symptoms, providing lasting relief that is both felt and seen. The goal of the procedure is to help you feel better and see better quickly, without dry eye getting in your way. This unique device allows you to see what has been causing your discomfort and how we can quickly alleviate the issue. Heights Eye Studio is pleased to offer this innovative, non-surgical treatment option for patients with dry eye symptoms caused by MGD.

FAST AND EFFECTIVE TREATMENT PROCESS

The Systane® iLux2® MGD treatment device administers treatment directly to the blocked meibomian glands. The treatment typically lasts 8–12 minutes for both eyes.

Your medical professional will evaluate your eyelids to determine the treatment zones. The Systane® iLux2® device Smart Tip Patient Interface will gently hold your eyelid between soft, biocompatible pads for comfort, allowing you to keep your eyes closed. Therapeutic, light-based heat will then warm the blocked glands to a safe temperature, helping to soften and release the oil. Your doctor can adjust the heat or pressure as needed. The oil is then expressed from the glands through compression, completing the treatment.
